Amex Shop Small

Small Merchants believed American Express offered little value to their business.

Amex needed to show these small merchants the love, big time.

​To help them do just that we thought big and launched the National Shop Small Event.

A special weekend where customers can support merchants by shopping small. To drive footfall we rewarded cardholders with a £5 credit for spending £10 or over, in any participating business.

Through a targeted CRM and Direct programme, we created DM and emails, along with a suite of POS assets promoting the event. Merchant engagement in American Express shot up. There was 5X more traffic to the website, with page views up by 50%. Registrations for following year’s Shop Small campaign went up by 280%. 

A very big uptake for a very good cause.
